Good Ship Students at Bologna Children's Book Fair Day Three

Day three and we're sharing the work of two more Good Shippers who are exhibiting at The Bologna Children's Book Fair.
First up is Anne, we asked her about her time with The Good Ship Illustration and here's what she said...
"The Goodship illustration courses are a delight and go-to-place on my journey to take myself more serious and take it easy at the same time.
The courses are full of information and tasks, that engage "the doer" in me. I am deeply influenced by the Good Ship idea of the freak flag.
The courses are a confidence booster for me and help to trust myself ( by doing stuff)
I started The Picture Book course at a time when I was negotiating with a publisher about my very first book project - what a timing!
I got to know various ways how to approach picture book making and could include them or experiment with them in the process.

Looking forward to seeing you at Bologna Book Fair, where I will present my first published picture book: Die Blumenfrau/ The Flower Seller with Nord Süd.

Next up is Jennifer, we asked Jennifer about her Good Ship experience and she said...
"I was lucky enough to jump into the inaugural Find Your Creative Voice course offered by The Good Ship Illustration. It was an absolute godsend in the middle of the dark and lonely pandemic lockdown. I felt my creativity slip down the drain at the beginning of lockdown, and I badly needed something with a bit of structure and the promise of connection to get things moving again and not feel so isolated. What joy it was to look forward to the weekly modules and live calls, to feel connected to and inspired by a crowd of artists from around the world, and to soak in the cheerful and deeply wise and knowledgeable banter of Helen, Katie, and Tanya!
The Good Ship Fly Your Freak Flag felt like just the art education I’d always wished I’d had, without the hefty tuition, but with a lot of freedom. The course encouraged me to experiment boldly with new ways of drawing, without worrying about who it might be for. It reminded me to delve back into my childhood for inspiration, and to look to my own quirks and preferences for fresh ideas. I tried tools that were new to me, and discovered new ways to use tools I’d used for years.
I dip back into the course and into Art Club fairly regularly, especially when I need a little nudge or a creative pick-me-up. There is always something new—literally, sometimes brand-new content, but also, new things new to discover that have been there all along.
What a gift to have lifetime access to the wealth of inspiration and encouragement that Helen, Katie, and Tanya have created. Thank you for all that you do for the world of us who like to draw!"
