Get aboard The Good Ship Illustration - it will change your creative life! After 5 years at university, I had lost all sense of who I was creatively. Most of all, I had very little self-confidence in my own trajectory in life, and my creative capabilities. Cut to July 2020, and after just 6 weeks, The Good Ship’s FIND YOUR CREATIVE VOICE - Fly Your Freak Flag Course has completely enriched and energised my creative life. This is a complete reflection of the brilliant course content, advice and nurturing community by Helen Stephens, Katie Chappell and Tania Willis. The course feels a bit like a gardening project - unearthing buried treasures and planting new ones that will be used and enjoyed for years to come. I’ve re-discovered my own quirks and interests and learnt how to celebrate and harness them within my creative work. I’ve also found a new joy and playfulness with sketchbooks - I now have 5 on the go! It reminds me of what Elizabeth Gilbert talks about when she describes being open to inspiration. Now I’ve got multiple books open to capture all the ideas life might throw my way. Alongside self-discovery, the course has offered a wealth of technical, specific advice and advice for navigating a career in illustration.
